What is Planetary Dance?

Planetary Dance was initiated 30 years ago By Anna Halprin in Marin County California.

It is a purposeful peace dance where every step is a prayer, and at the heart of it is the Earth Run.

The Earth Run is a series of three concentrical circles of running, walking and standing with the drum beat at the center core.

What makes this such a powerful movement ritual is the act of DECLARING your prayer out loud, being WITNESSED and taking ACTION through running.

Once you experience the Earth Run there is no doubt of the power and connection of prayer through action in community.

Planetary Dance seed Setting May 16th, 2010

We had our first Planetary Dance seed setting today in Prince's Island Park In Calgary Alberta.

It was a beautiful sunny day with the promise of spring and summer in the air.

It was a small group and I believe all beautiful things start small... including us!

To the pulse of the drum we declared our prayers... for the earth, for ourselves and for one another. Sinking the prayer into each step on the earth, each beat of the drum.

Sophie- ran for peace

Lisa- ran for healthy water ways every where

Amy-ran to transform tragedy into opportunity

We will continue to run with love in our hearts in the knowledge and conviction of the power of prayer in action.

We Declare, We Are Witnessed, We Run...

We will keep running every month, allowing the seed to grow.
